AFF Commemorates International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM

On February 6th, 2026, the Alice Alobi Foundation (AAF) via its initiative the Sweet Mother Network took a stand against a practice that has long compromised the health and dignity of girls and women. In commemoration of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), our team visited the Wasa IDP Camp in Abuja to drive change through advocacy and direct support.

A United Front for Change

Ending FGM requires a collective effort. We were honored to execute this outreach in collaboration with esteemed partners who share our vision for a safer world:

  • The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs
  • NAPTIP (National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons)
  • Motherly Insight
  • Fight Against Rape Initiative
  • Sweet Mother Network

Impact at a Glance

The day was centered on more than just awareness; it was about providing the tools and community support needed for sustainable change.

  • Dialogue and Advocacy: We engaged in deep, empathetic conversations with community leaders and residents of the Wasa IDP Camp to address the myths surrounding FGM and highlight its devastating health consequences.
  • Community Pledge: A key highlight of the event was the collective pledge from community members to protect the girl-child and move toward a future free from genital mutilation.
  • Health and Empowerment: Beyond advocacy, we prioritized the immediate needs of the women. 120 women received Dignity Kits, ensuring they have the essential hygiene and health supplies needed to live with pride and comfort.

Our Commitment

At AAF, we believe that every girl deserves to grow up in an environment where her physical integrity is respected. By targeting vulnerable populations in places like Wasa IDP Camp, we are bringing the message of empowerment directly to those who need it most.

“Advocacy is not just about talking; it’s about listening to the community and providing the support that empowers them to choose a different path”
